Japan: how the nuclear plant crisis happened

The crisis at the three Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power stations came not from the buildings collapsing after the March 11 earthquake of magnitude 9 and the tsunami that followed the quake, but from a different source — power failure.

The Fukushima nuclear reactor 1 went critical on March 1971 and is 460 MW reactor. Unite-2 and Unit-3 are 784 MW each and went critical in July 1974 and March 1976 respectively. All the three are Boiling Water Reactors (BWR) and use demineralised water for cooling the nuclear fuel.

The fuel in the form of pellets is filled inside a metal rod called cladding. The cladding is made of zirconium alloy, and it completely seals the fuel. Fuel pins in the form bundles are kept in the reactor core. Several hundred fuel pins that are assembled in the core starts the chain reaction through fission process and heat is generated.

The fuel bundles have gaps through which the coolant flows. The coolant never comes in direct contact with the fuel as it is kept sealed inside the zirconium alloy cladding. The coolant changes into steam as it cools the hot fuel. It is this steam that generates electricity by driving the turbines.

All the heat that is produced by nuclear fission is not used for producing electricity. The efficiency of power plant, including nuclear, is not 100 per cent. In the case of nuclear power plant the efficiency is 30-35 per cent. “About 3 MW thermal energy is required to produce 1 MW of electrical energy. Hence for the 460 MW Unit-1, 1,380 MW thermal energy is produced,” said Dr. K.S. Parthasarathy, Former Secretary, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, Mumbai. “This heat has to be removed continuously.”

In the case of Fukushima units, demineralised water is used as a coolant. Uranium-235 is used as fuel in Unit-1 and Unit-2 and Plutonium-239 is used as fuel in Unit-3.

Since very high amount of heat is generated, the flow of the coolant should never be disrupted. But on March 11, pumping of the coolant failed as even the diesel generator failed after an hour’s operation.

Though the power producing fission process was stopped by using control rods that absorb the neutrons, the fuel contains radioactive elements including radionuclides like iodine, and caesium. These elements are produced during the uranium fission process. “These radionuclides decay at different timescales, and they continue to produce heat during the decay period,” Dr. Parthasarathy said.

The heat produced by radioactive decay of the fission products is called “decay heat.”

“Just prior to shut down of the reactor the decay heat is 7 per cent. It reduces exponentially, about 2 per cent in the first hour. After one day, the decay heat is 1 per cent. Then it reduces very slowly,” he said.

While the uranium fission process can be stopped and heat generation can be halted, there is no way of stopping the radioactive decay of the fission products.

Hence the original heat as well as the heat produced continuously by the fission products, including iodine, and caesium, has to be removed even after the uranium fission process has been stopped.

Inability to remove this heat led to a rise in coolant temperature. According the Nature journal, when temperature reached around 1,000 degree C, the zirconium alloy that encases the fuel (cladding) probably began to melt or split apart. “In the process it reacted with the steam and created hydrogen gas, which is highly volatile,” Nature notes.

Though the pressure created by hydrogen gas was reduced by controlled release, the massive build-up of hydrogen led to the explosion that blew the roof of the fuel hall in Unit-1 [and subsequently Unit-3].

But the real danger arises from fuel melting. This would happen following the rupture of the zirconium casing. “If the heat is not removed, the zirconium cladding along with the fuel would melt and become liquid,” he explained.

Melted fuel is called “corium.” Since melted fuel is at a very high temperature it can even “burn through the concrete containment vessel.”

According to Nature, if enough melted fuel gathers outside the fuel assembly it can “restart the power-producing reactions, and in a completely uncontrolled way.”

What may result is a “full-scale nuclear meltdown.”

Pumping of sea-water is one way to reduce the heat and avoid such catastrophic consequences. The use of boronic acid, which is an excellent neutron absorber, would reduce the chances of nuclear reactions restarting even if the fuel is found loose inside the reactor core. Both these measures have been resorted to in Unit-1 and Unit-3.

While the use of sea-water can prevent fuel melt, it makes the reactor core completely useless as it results in corrosion.

இலஞ்சம்

மூலை முடுக்கானாலும்
மூளையைத் தட்டுவேன்;
கொடுத்துச் சரிக்கட்டினால்
யார் வாயையும் கட்டுவேன்!

விரலில் ஒளித்துக்
கரத்தில் திணிப்பான்
அவன் வேலை முடிய;
பற்களை இளித்துப்
புறங்கையை நீட்டுவான்
வேலையைச் செய்ய!

கடமையைச் செய்யவேக்
கண் தேடும் என்னை;
கொடுப்பவன்;
திட்டித் தீர்த்து
மனதாலே வீசுவான்
மண்ணை!

அடிமைப் பட்டுப்போனப் பணத்திற்கு;
அடிமாடாய் என்னிடம்;
முகம் சுளிப்பான் பணத்திற்கென்றால்;
கொண்டுச் செல்வேன் பெண்ணிடம்!

வண்ண வண்ண அலங்கரமாய்
வீட்டின் முன்னே நிற்பேன்;
வாரி அணைக்கும் மனிதனின்
ஆசையைக் கண்டு மலைப்பேன்!

எந்தப் பொருளில்
வந்தாலும் எனக்குப் பெயர்
இலஞ்சம்;
தடுமாறும் மனிதன் என்னிடம்
அடைவான் தஞ்சம்!

So Touching!

Pencil: I’m sorry….

Eraser: For what? You didn’t do anything wrong.

Pencil: I’m sorry because you get hurt bcos of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you’re always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That’s true. But I don’t really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I’ll be gone and you’ll replace me with a new one, I’m actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad.

I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They’re always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way… they get hurt, and become smaller (older, and eventually pass on). Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying or sad.

This is for all parents and children...

An Appreciation

What to appreciate, When and How: an Important Lesson!

One young academically excellent person went for an interview for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the first interview; BUT in that Company, the director did the last interview, made the last decision.

The director discovered from the CV, that the youth's academic result was excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never was there a year he did not score. The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarship in school?" and the youth answered "no"

The director asked, " Did your father pay your school fees?". The youth answered, "my father passed away when I was one year old and it was my mother who paid my school fees".

The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" the youth answered, "my mother worked as cloth cleaner." The director requested the youth to show his hands and the youth showed a pair of hands that was smooth and perfect to the director.

The director asked, " Did you ever help your mother wash clothes before?" The youth answered, "never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books, furthermore, my mother could wash clothes faster than I could"

The director said, I have a  request, when you go back today, go and help to clean your mother's hand, and then see me tomorrow morning.

The youth felt that the chance of landing the job was high and when he went back, he happily wanted to clean his mother's hands. His mother felt strange. With happiness  mixed with fear, she showed her hands to the kid.

The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly and his tears fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and that there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful  that she shuddered when his mother's hands were cleaned with water.

This is the first time that the youth realized and experienced that it is this pair of hands that washed the clothes every day to earn him the school fees and that the bruises in the mother's hand were the price that the mother paid for his graduation and academic excellence and probably his future.

After finishing the cleaning of his mother's hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, the mother and son talked for a very long time.
Next morning, the youth went to the director's office. The director noticed the tear in the youth's eye and asked: "Can you tell  what you did and learnt yesterday in your house?"
The youth answered, "I cleaned my mother's hands and also finished washing all the remaining clothes".

The director asked, "Please tell me what you felt"

The youth said:

"Number 1, I know what  appreciation is now'. Without my mother, I would not be successful today.

Number 2, Now I know how to work together with my mother. Only now do I realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done.

Number 3, I know the importance and value of family relationship."

The director said, "This is what I am asking, I want to recruit a person that can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the suffering of others to get things done, and a person that would not put money as his only goal in life to be my manager. You are hired."

Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates, every employee worked diligently and as a team and the company improved tremendously.

The Lessons from this anecdote:

A child who has been protected and habitually given whatever he needs, develops"entitlement mentality"and always puts himself first. He is ignorant of his parents' efforts. When he starts work, he assumes every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the suffering of  his employees and always blame others. These kinds of people,  may/will achieve good results and  may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel a sense of achievement or satisfaction.

If we happen to be this kind of (protective) parent, this is the time to ask the question

- whether we did/do love our kids or destroy them.

-You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn to play the piano, watch a big screen TV but when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it.

-After a meal, let them wash their plate and bowl together with their brothers and sisters.

-It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love and show them the  correct way.

-You want them to understand that no matter how rich their parent are, one day they will grow old, become weak and that their hair too will grow grey.

-The most important thing is for  your kid to learn how to appreciate, experience and learn the effort and ability needed to work with others to get things done. They should also value, appreciate what the parents have done and love them for who they are!

Avoid China Food

JUST TAKE A MOMENT OF YOUR TIME RUN TRHOUGH

let's spare a thought for Fats who is hooked up to the dialysis machine..............
AVOID EATING 'MADE IN CHINA' FOODS

Everything you need to know about MELAMINE

China milk poisoning incidents make everyone afraid to look at the daily news report. Everyday, the reports are changing. No one can clearly tell us what to eat and what not to eat.

1.What really is poisoned milk? It is milk powder mixed with 'MELAMINE'

What is Melamine used for? It is an industrial chemical used in the production of melawares. It is also used in home decoration. ' US resistant board' We all MUST understand that Melamine is used in INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION
- - - - - it CANNOT be eaten.

2.Why is Melamine added to milk powder?

The most important nutrient in milk is protein. And, Melamine has this same protein that contains 'NITROGEN'. Adding Melamine into milk reduces the actual milk content required,
and therefore it is cheaper than all milk. So it lowers the capital required in the production of milk products. Therefore it earns the business man more profit!

Below is Melamine; doesn't it look like milk / milk powder?
It doesn't have any smell, so cannot be detected.

3.When was it discovered that it had been added to milk products. In 2007, US cats and dogs died suddenly, they found that pet food from China contained Melamine. Early in 2008, in China , an abnormal increase in infant cases of kidney stones was reported. In August 2008, China Sanlu Milk Powder tested for Melamine. Sept. 2008, the New Zealand government asked China to investigate this problem Sept. 21, 2008, they found that many food products in Taiwan tested for Melamine.

4.What happens when Melamine ingested and digested?

Melamine remains inside the kidneys. It forms into stones blocking the tubes. Pain will be imminent and the person cannot urinate. Kidney(s) will then swell. Although surgery can remove the stones, it causes irreversible kidney damage. It can lead to the loss of kidney function and will require kidney dialysis or lead to death because of uremia.

What is dialysis? In fact, it should be called 'blood washing'; it is filtering all of the body's blood into a machine and then returning the blood back to the body. The whole process takes 4 hours; and it is necessary to have dialysis once every 3 days for the rest of your life.

Below: A dialysis center
Below: A large dialysis center

A small hole is required in the arm to insert the sub-dialysis catheter. Why is it much more serious in babies? A baby's kidneys are so very small and they drink a lot of milk powder.

Below: A baby undergoing dialysis.

China currenty has 13,000 infants hospitalized. It does not matter how much Melamine a human being ingested (ate) (took). The important point is: 'MELAMINE CANNOT BE EATEN!'

5.What foods are to be avoided?

Foods from China that contain dairy products should be avoided. Remember: Foods with cream or milk should be avoided.
---------------------------------------------------------

The whole world is very afraid of "Made In China" 'black-hearted' goods. Do you know how to differentiate which products are made in the USA , or in the Philippines , in Taiwan , or in China ? Here's How: The first 3 digits of the barcode identify the country code
wherein the product was made.

For Example: ALL barcodes that start with 690, 691, 692, etc., . . up to and including 695 are all MADE IN CHINA . Barcodes starting with 471 are printed on products Made in Taiwan . You have a right to know. But the government and related departments never inform or educate the public. Therefore we must educate ourselves, be vigilant, and RESCUE ourselves. Today, Chinese businessmen know that consumers will not select products 'Made in China '. So, they make every effort not to show or state the country of origin on their products. However, you can now refer to the barcode. DO remember if the first 3 digits are one of those between 690 and 695 inclusive then it is a product Made in China .

OTHER BARCODES:
00 ~ 13 USA & CANADA
30 ~ 37 FRANCE
40 ~ 44 GERMANY
49 ~ JAPAN
50 ~ UK
57 ~ Denmark
64 ~ Finland
76 ~ Switzerland and Liechtenstein
628 ~ Saudi-Arabia
629 ~ United Arab Emirates
740 ~ 745 - Central America

All 480 Codes are Made in the Philippines. Please inform your family and friends. Be aware! And help others to be aware!

Pasalai Keerai - "Malabar Spinach"

Recently we had been to New York visiting our friends. They had Pasalai Keerai growing in their garden. They found the seeds in Chinese stores as "Malabar Spinach." It is very easy to grow. Disease resistant. Even those who don't have garden space can grow them in pots. It will grow like "money plant". and can be used as ornamental plant.

Nutritional value:

This food is very low in Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Protein, Niacin, Vitamin B6 and Phosphorus, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Thiamin,
Riboflavin, Folate, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper and Manganese.

We brought home a big bagful of Pasalai keerai. I was able to cook half of it and the rest I have it stored in the freezer. It was very tasty.

In US we don't get pasalai keerai, arai keerai, siru keerai and murungai keerai in stores. If we bring the seeds from India we can grow them only for 3 months outdoors. It is too cold to grow them indoors because of cold and snow. In Texas and California it is possible to grow them year around.

Common greens that are available here are palak, lettuce, collard greens and mustard greens. Collard & mustard greens are not that tasty like our Indian greens.

So folks in warmer climates, enjoy your greens by growing them year around. If you don't have a garden space you can grow tomatoes, chilies and greens in pots. Home grown greens and vegetables always taste better than the store bought vegetables.

Bill Gates speech

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in
the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both. Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault , so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's
generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Eating Fruit

We all think eating fruit means just buying fruit, cutting it up and popping it into our mouths. It's not that easy. It's important to know how and when to eat fruit.
What's the correct way to eat fruit?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUIT AFTER A MEAL! FRUIT SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

Eating fruit like that plays a major role in detoxifying your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities..

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.

Let's say you eat two slices of bread, then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it's prevented from doing so.

In the meantime, the whole meal rots and ferments, and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach, and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.

Eat your fruit on an empty stomach, or before your meal! You've heard people complain: Every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc. This will not happen if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. Fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas. Hence, you bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes - all of these will NOT happen if you eat fruit on an empty stomach.

There's no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruit becomes alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruit, you have the Secret of Beauty, Longevity, Health, Energy, Happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice drink only freshfruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't drink juice that has been heated. Don't eat cooked fruit; you don't get the nutrients at all. You get  only the taste... Cooking destroys all of the vitamins.

Eating a whole fruit is etter than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit-fast to cleanse your body. Eat fruit and drink fruit juice for just 3 days, and you will be surprised when your friends say how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty, and a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange!

AN  APPLE a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C, thereby helping to lower the risk of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

EATING 2 - 4 ORANGES oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones, and reduce the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. Also a key source of lycopene, the cancer-fighting oxidant. Also found in watermelon: Vitamin C & Potassium..

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene, good for your eyes..

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer!

Can u believe this? For those who like to drink cold water, this applies to you. It's nice to have a cold drink after a meal, however, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you've just consumed, which slows digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer.. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks.

HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE

Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they're asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Be careful, and be aware. The more we know, the better our chance to survive

You are Valuable!

Heated gold becomes ornament; Beaten copper becomes wires.
Depleted stone becomes statue, so  the more pain you get in life you become
more valuable.

Every successful person has a painful story.
Every painful story has a successful ending.
Accept the pain and get ready for success.

Our great leader Abdul Kalaam is a fine example.

After reading  this message I was able to see SunTV special Abdul Kalaam's interview by Actor Sivakumar. What a great man. Very humble beginning. I am planning to read his books, 'Wings of fire and Ignited minds." Available in Scribd.com.

I think every parent and every child should read his second  book "Ignited minds". Very inspirational. If possible we can  even give these as gifts to school children coming to the
family meet in December.

Here is part 1 of his interview on YouTube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCN6GH8_mJQ

Here is a brief summary of "Ignited Minds".

Kalam offers no formulaic prescription in “Ignited Minds,” Instead, he takes up different issues and themes that struck him on his pilgrimage around the country as he met thousands of school children, teachers, scientists and saints and seers in the course of two years: the necessity for a patriotism that transcends religion and politics; for role models who point out the path to take; and for confidence in ourselves and in our strengths.

If you lost your mobile

Got an interesting fact to share.. Nowdays each one of us carry Hi Fi Mobile devices and always fear that it may be stolen.

Each mobile carries a unique IMEI i.e International Mobile Identity No which can be used to track your mobile anywhere in the world.

This is how it works!!!!!!

1. Dial *#06# from your mobile.
2. Your mobile shows a unique 15 digit .
3. Note down this no anywhere but except your mobile as this is the no which will help trace your mobile in case of a theft.
4. Once stolen you just have to mail this 15 digit IMEI no. to cop@vsnl.net
with the following info.
- Your name:
- Address:
- Phone model:
- Make:
- Last used No.:
- E-mail for communication:
- Missed date:
- IMEI No.:
5. No need to go to police.
6. Your Mobile will be traced within next 24 hrs via a complex system of GPRS and internet.
7. You will find where your hand set is being operated even in case your no is being changed.

One Minute

Can you improve your life in one minute? The answer is yes!

Most of us find it difficult to take time out to relax, to play, to just breathe. We're in such a hurry all the time...but I know we can all find at least one minute to vastly improve our lives!

Give some of these great suggestions a try and see how the quality of your life improves!

Want to make some positive gains in your life? A lot of folks would like to improve their lifestyle, but just can’t find the time to take action. If you are already living a busy lifestyle, finding the time to make a positive change CAN pose a seemingly insurmountable problem.

Still … the highest mountain is scaled only step at a time, and the biggest goal is only accomplished one step at a time. And actually -- it’s impossible to take more than one step at a time anyway.

Why not try an approach of focusing on just what you can accomplish in one minute -* just 60 seconds. That’s enough time to at least re-focus on a goal, and plan one small action to move you in your desired direction.

You can actually do quite a bit in only one minute. Here are some ways to use the power of a single minute:

Exercise for One Minute
No time to go to the gym? OK. Forget about the next 59 minutes, and just focus on the next one minute. Perhaps do a deep breathing exercise, or one minute of push-ups or sit-ups. Or invest in one of those easy-to-use $50 home gym systems, and just do a single exercise for 1 minute. After a while you may expand to two minutes ... and wow, you have just made a 200% jump.

Relax for One Minute
Just relax into your chair and suck in a slow deep breath all the way down into your belly. Then open your mouth slightly, and release your breath as slowly as you can. Repeat this for just one minute to refresh your mind with increased oxygen.

Calm Your Mind For One Minute
Your mind is a fabulous theater, and contains wonderful visions of your favorite places. Go visit one of those places for one minute. Just relax and clear your mind wherever you may be -- in a plane, waiting in a bank line, or at your desk. Now revisit your favorite place in your mental theatre for one minute. You’ll come away feeling refreshed, and a lot calmer and clearer.

Change Your Outlook for One Minute
You can even experiment going outside your normal self for a minute. Try acting the exact opposite of how you usually act for one minute. If you tend to be introverted, think like an extrovert. If you are an engineer, think like an artist. If you are a man, think like a woman.

Re-Frame a Problem for One Minute
Choose a problem, then select a different frame of reference to consider it from. Try considering the problem through the eyes of someone you admire. Does the problem look different? Try looking at it with the mind Albert Einstein or Bill Gates or Martha Stewart. Now how does the problem look?

Be Happy for One Minute
Maybe you are currently overwhelmed with problems and challenges beyond your control. Try finding something to give thanks for, and focus on being grateful. Forget any current or past tragedies or disasters, and allow yourself to be happy for one minute.

You really can achieve wonders in just one minute. And these single minutes can add up to a greatly improved quality of life. Give it a try!

Answer:

In all of the words listed,
if you take the first letter,
place it at the end of the word,
and then spell the word backwards,
it will be the same word.
Did you figure it out? No?
Then send it to more people and stump them as well.
Then, you'll feel better too

Importance Of Sleep

What do you feel when you do not get enough sleep? Peppy and energetic? But what happens when you are awake day after day and haven’t rested well? Gradually, the lack of sleep starts affecting on your overall well-being and lifestyle. Yes lifestyle, as well. The busy routines and exciting things take up most of our time giving sleep the back seat. Initially, we love the enthusiasm but eventually, it fizzles out with showing least interest in them. These are signs of sleep deficiency directly affecting our overall health. Chronic sleep loss can lead to various health problems, such as weight gain, high blood pressure and a decrease in the immune system’s power. Thus, sleeping is an important activity which must be undertaken in order to have a healthy mind and body. Given here are some justifiable reasons that indicate the importance of sleep. Take a look!

Health Benefits Of Sleep

- Improves Learning and Memory
Studies reveal that people who sleep for the required hours are far off better than those who do not get enough sleep by having a better memory and learning power. Thus, lack of sleep results in lack of memory and eventually, lack of learning. Good sleep alerts the mind and body, preparing it for accepting and learning new information through a process, known as memory consolidation. Hence, this primarily contributes to the critically importance of sleep for children and students. Most students stay awake the whole night to prepare for the upcoming exam not realising that learning and memory function would be better when they get a proper sleep.

- Prevents and Cures Diseases
One of the major health benefits of sleep is that it assists the body in fighting and recovering from numerous diseases and health problems. Why do your elders suggest you a sleep when you are down with a minor headache? Simple, sleep gives your body a chance to repair the damaged cells and functions, strengthen the immune system and avoid the beginning of other likely problems. Furthermore, proper sleep helps you to deal with physical and mental stress in a better way.

- Keeps your Weight under Control
Are you one of those who’ve been following a strict diet and still putting on weight? Sleep is the answer to your question. Sleep is directly related to the metabolism of our body and hence affects gain and loss of body weight. Shortage of sleep gives a chance to the carbohydrates and fats to accumulate in the body to use them in dealing with the physical and mental stress on body. Per se, it affects the metabolism resulting in weight gain. Also, lack of sleep can cause hormonal changes thereby affecting our appetite.

- Balances our Moods
How do you feel after a bad night’s sleep? Are you fresh and happy or irritable and distracted? Definitely, you are bound to feel sleepy the entire day, resulting in a bad day, undoubtedly. Conversely, observe your mood when you receive a good sound sleep. You will surely be perky and energetic. This is exactly the impact of what sleep has on your daily moods.

- Prevents Sleep Disorders
Disturbed sleeping patterns can further lead to the development of various sleeping disorders, one being insomnia. Eventually, this lack of sleep can induce increased hypertension, stroke and heart diseases, and reduced strength in fighting with stressful circumstances. Therefore, the best way to keep sleeping disorders at bay is have a good night’s sleep.

- Ensures General Safety
There have been two contrary thoughts on the state of a person while he is asleep. While one states that a person is most weak in his sleep, the other comments on the improvement of the person’s health while sleeping. Good sleep enhances body and mind alertness and hence, helps in preventing numerous mishaps and accidents that can otherwise occur due to lack of sleep. The story about ‘a man falling asleep while driving had to pay for his life’ sums up the entire concept behind sleep and safety.

Hatsoff her Presence of Mind.

Lavish Marriages?

The marriages in India, in general, are Lavish.  Indians spendi nearly Rs.2,000 crores annually, mainly for marriages & festivals. The recently held  family marriage of Reddy Brothers (Karanaka Ministers) costed Rs.250crores. We can also witness the TPRs marriages in recent years with ultra modern decorations, crane operated video coverages. Though our Governing body appealed for  cost cuts in our marriages, irrespective of financial back grounds.

Mr.Subramaniya Reddiar the Grand old man of Thurinjapuram: A strong believer in god non-believer of sentiments has performed few marriages:

- Invitations :: only by Post card
- Nadaswaram :: only by Castee/CD
- Sasthirgal :: not neccessary
- Feast :: As usual, traditional meal

Panta Reddiar ACE Agriculturists

The Word "Panta" derives from Agri-Based activities, for centuries our fore-fathers’ livelihood. Once TPRs have the loyal labourers, once again I repeat loyal labourers, good monsoons, the agri-results were satisfactory and the TPRs lived with "JABARTHASTH"; gone are those days…

Socio-economic, Higher Education... necessitated us to migrate from our villages to Towns / Cities / Overseas. Still there are some ACE Agriculturists. When we talk about Panta Reddiar - larger, medium & small time Panta Reddiars they are. Of course, those who sold off their lands and settled are not bothered whether it rains / shines. Late Mr.Nagarajan Reddiar & Late Mr.Subramanian Reddiar Bros - Endal had their make-shift pumpset fitted in Tractors to irrigate 100 some acres of Sugarcane fields. Late Mr.Setharama Reddiar of Pagandai also… 100+ acres of Agri land. Late Mr.Sugananda Reddiar (TPRA Past President), Pdupalayam, a dynamic Agri business man, had made more than a dozen hut like out-houses for their workers. Mr.D.G. Subramaniya Reddiar, Kuilam, a successful Tamotto & Bringal cultivator. Late.Mr.B. Rajamanicka Rediar, Mekkalure, the first TPR constructed Godown near their fields, had 7.5 HP+5HP pump-sets in single well which can run for more than 12 hrs.(non-stop). Mr.R. Kesavan (B/o Dr.Rajasekar USA) implemented latest scientific methods in agri. Mr.Balasubramniya Reddiar, Mekkalure a Hardcore Agriculturist enjoyed a single lake under his control. (now he sold all the lands). Valuthalangunam TPRs, the trend setters, concentrated on Cash Crops. Contrarily, so intuitive, was Mr. Mani Reddiar innovatively designed, fabricated & Marketed cultivator, harvester… When we talk about Agri (Vivasayam) Mr.Ramalinga reddiar, Usambadi, always interested to share his developments / experience. Andithangal & Senthamangalam TPRs entered in cultivating Topicoia, Sampangi & turmeric.

Apple Tree

Long Back ago, there was a huge Apple tree.. A little boy loved to play with it. He Love to climb the tree, love to eat apples… love to take the nap under its shadow. Times went on…

The boy grew up… And he no longer plays around the tree... One day the boy came…. The Tree asked him.. “Hi.. Come and Play with me..” The Boy replied.. “I am not a kid. I don’t play around tree” “I play with toys. I need money to buy toys.” The Tree said… “I don’t have money but you can take all my apples and sell it. You will get the money.” The boy picked all the apples of the tree and went.. He sold the apples and got money… he bought lots of toys… But he didn’t turn back. The Tree was again sad…

One day again the boy came, he became a young man now. The Tree said… “HI, Why are you Sad? Come and Sit under my shadow. I am feeling very lonely without you.” The boy said… “I don’t have time. I work for my family. I want to build Home for them… I Need money…” The Tree said.. “I don’t have money… You can take my Branches and Trunk… and build your home…” The boy became happy... He cut all the branches and trunk of the tree… And built a home for him…. Again the tree became alone.. The boy didn’t turned back.. Time passes on..

After Long time the boy came back.. He was so old… Looking sad… Tired… And lonely.. The Tree asked him.. “Why are you Sad.. I Wish.. I Can help you… but I Don’t have Apples..
I don’t have branches…. Even I don’t have Shadow… Nothing to offer you... The Boy (old man) replied… “I am tired of my life… I am alone…” …“I just need you… Can I sit down at your roots.” The Boy (Old man) sit down .. Both were happy & weeping.

Is the boy really cruel and selfish???? No... We all are like him… And treating our parent like that…. The tree is like our parent. We love to play with them when we were kids… We leave them alone…and come only when… We are in need or in trouble We don’t have Time for our Parent… No matter what, parent will always give everything…. To make us happy and solve our problems… And in return what they want…. Just our company! Please love to your parent… Don’t forget them… Give them Time… Give them your company… They will be happy by seeing you happy..… Please Don’t leave your parent … Gratitude them… One can get Child as many as he want, but parent he gets only once…

Touching life story.....

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business.

He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.

He began to search his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words... PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected?

Spiritual Analysis of "Namaskar"

- Posted by Ms.GIRIJA KARUNA - Mar 19, '10

What is the meaning and the benefits of 'Namaskar'?

Origin and the meaning of the word 'Namaskar'

The word 'Namaskar' is derived from the root 'namaha', which means paying obeisance (Namaskar) or salutation.

From Science of Justice - 'Namaha' is a physical action expressing that 'you are superior to me in all qualities and in every way'..

Worldly Benefits

- By doing Namaskar to a deity or a Saint, unknowingly their virtues and capabilities are impressed upon our minds. Consequently we start emulating them, thus changing ourselves for the better.

Spiritual Benefits

- Increase in humility and reduction of ego / Enhancement in the spiritual emotion of surrender and gratitude / Gaining the Sattva component and faster spiritual progress
We receive the highest amount of Sattva component from the posture (mudra) of Namaskar.
By  doing Namaskar to Deities or Saints we receive subtle frequencies emitted by them, e.g. frequencies of Sattva or Bliss.

Why is it not appropriate to Shake Hands?

Avoid a Hand Shake: It tranfers undesirable raja-tama components! In short, in a handshake, the raja-tama components in one person will get transferred to the other person, thereby lowering his sattvikta (Purity levels). While practicing Spirituality, our objective is to perform acts which increase our sattvikta.

If at all they do Namaskar by joining their palms, it is done just as a formality. As the act is not based on faith, the benefit derived from it is minimal. Along with faith it is essential that every religious act be correctly performed according to the Science of Spirituality, so that it gives complete benefit. In this series, as with the others,  along with information on various methods of doing Namaskar, the Science in them is also explained. Understanding the Science will help in strengthening faith in the act. Such an act correctly performed with faith, will yield corresponding benefits.

How does one do Namaskar to an individual of the same age group?

When meeting someone of the same age-groupdo Namaskar by joining the fingers and placing tips of the thumbs on the Anahat chakra (at the centre of the chest). This type of Namaskarincreases the spiritual emotion of humility in the embodied soul. Sattva frequencies from the universe are attracted by the fingers (which act as an antenna) and are then transmitted to the entire body through the thumbs which have awakened the Anahat chakra. This activates the soul energy of the embodied soul. In addition, by doing Namaskar in this manner to each other, frequencies of blessings are also transmitted.

What is correct method & science of doing Namaskar to God?

A. 'While paying obeisance to God, bring the palms together.
1.
The fingers should be held loose (not straight and rigid) while joining the hands or palms.
2.
The fingers should be kept close to each other without leaving any space between them.
3.
The fingers should be kept away from the thumbs.
4.
The inner portion of the palms should not touch each other and there should be some space between them.

Note:
The stage of awakening of spiritual emotion (Bhav) is important to the seeker at the primary level. Hence, for awakening spiritual emotion (Bhav), he should keep space in between the joined hands, whereas a seeker who is at the advanced level should refrain from leaving such space in between the palms to awaken the unexpressed spiritual emotion (Bhav).

B.
After joining the hands one should bow and bring the head forward..

C.
While tilting the headforward, one should place the thumbs at the mid-brow region, i.e. at the point between the eyebrows and try to concentrate on the feet of the Deity.

D.
After that, instead of bringing the folded hands down immediately, they should be placed on the mid-chest region for a minute in such way that the wrists touch the chest; then only  should the hands be brought down.

Underlying Science in this action

A. The fingers should not be stiff while bringing the palms together because this will lead to a decrease in Sattva component from the vital and mental sheaths and thus increase the raja component in them. By keeping the fingers relaxed, the subtlest Sattva component will get activated. With the strength of this energy, embodied souls are able to fight powerful distressing energies.

B.
In the Namaskar posture, the joined fingers act as an antenna to assimilate the Chaitanya (Divine consciousness) or the Energy transmitted by a Deity. While joining the palms, the fingers must touch each other because leaving space between the fingers will result in accumulation of energy in that space. This energy will be immediately transmitted in various directions;  therefore the seeker's body will lose the benefit of this potent energy.

C.
About the space to be maintained between the palms:
For a seeker at the primary level, it is advisable to leave space between the palms; it is not necessary for a seeker at an advanced level to leave space between the palms.

D.
After joining the palms, bow a little. This posture puts pressure on the navel and activates the five vital energies situated there. Activation of these vital energies in the body makes it sensitive to accepting sattvik frequencies. This later awakens the 'Atma shakti'  (i.e. soul energy of an embodied soul). And later, Bhav is awakened. This enables the body to accept in large measures the Chaitanya emitted by the Deity.

E.
Touch the thumbs to the mid-brow region. (Please see images above..) This posture awakens the Bhav of surrender in an embodied soul, and  in turn activates the appropriate subtle frequencies of Deities from the Universe. They enter through the ’Adnya chakra’ (Sixth of the 7 chakras in the Kundalini) of the embodied soul and settle in the space parallel to it at the back interior of the head. In this space the openings to all the three channels converge; namely, the Moon, the Central and the Sun channels. Due to the movement of these subtler frequencies in this space, the Central Channel is activated. Consequently it facilitates the speedy transmission of these frequencies throughout the body, leading to purification of both the gross and subtle bodies at the same time.

F.
After doing Namaskar, to completely imbibe the Chaitanya of the Deity (that has entered the hands by now), instead of bringing the folded hands down immediately, place them on the mid-chest region in such a way that the wrists touch the chest.

The 'Anahat chakra' is located at the centre of the chest. Akin to the Adnya chakra, the activity of the Anahat chakra is also to absorb the Sattva frequencies. By touching the wrists to the chest, the Anahat chakra is activated and it helps in absorbing more of the Sattva component.

Effect of this Posture

By doing Namaskar in this manner, the Deity's Chaitanya is absorbed to a greater extent by the body, as compared to other methods of doing Namaskar. This gives maximum distress to negative energies. The negative energies that have manifested in a person are unable to touch their thumbs at the mid-brow region in Namaskar. (The negative energies are subtle. But at times they enter an individual's body and manifest it. - Editor)'

Q. What is the reason for not wrapping a cloth around the neck while performing circumambulation, doing Namaskar, ritualistic worship, sacrificial fires, chanting and while visiting Guru and deities?

A. When a cloth is wrapped around the neck, it does not activate the Vishuddha chakra (in the throat region) and hence an individual gets less benefit of the Sattva component.

Why should one always do Namaskar to elders?

Meaning: When an elderly person arrives, the vital energy of the young person starts rising and when he gets up and does Namaskar, it returns to normal. - Manusmruti 2.120; Mahabharat, Udhyog, Chapter (Section) 38.1, Sr. no. 104, 64-65

Explanation:
'As the sojourn of the elderly person is gradually towards the southern direction, that is, towards the region of Lord Yama (towards death), his body starts emitting raja and tama frequencies on a high scale. When such an elderly person comes in the vicinity of any younger individual, these frequencies start affecting the younger person. A subtle magnetic field is created between the two. Consequently, the vital energy of the younger person is pulled upward. This way the younger person can suffer due to sudden momentum to his vital energy. When this younger person doesNamaskar to the elderly person, some amount of the Central channel of his Kundalini system is activated and the Sattva component in it starts increasing. Consequently the raja and tama components in him are influenced by the Sattva component and the vital energy comes back to normal state. Hence on arrival of an elderly person, it is customary for the younger individuals to do Namaskar to them.'

Doing Namaskar to Elders..

When travelling, prior to the commencement of a journey and upon returning, why should one do Namaskar to elders in the family?

'Namaskar to the elders in the family is one way of surrendering to the God principle in them. When an embodied soul bows in Namaskar to an elder by surrendering to the God principle in him, at that time a sense of compassion is created in his body. This compassion percolates right upto his subtle body. At that time, energy of his mind is activated and in turn activates the five vital energies, which are located at the seat of the Manipur chakra (situated in the Naval region). Transmission of these five vital energies all over the body then awakens the soul energy. With the strength of the soul energy, the Central channel gets activated and converts the expressed energy of spiritual emotion to the unexpressed energy of spiritual emotion. With the help of this unexpressed energy of spiritual emotion, the embodied soul, through the medium of elders, gains the required Deity's principle from the Universe. For this purpose, while leaving the house on a
journey, the embodied soul should do Namaskar to elders and with the strength of Sattva frequencies has to protect himself from distressing frequencies in the atmosphere. Similarly, returning from a journey, one should immediately do Namaskar to elders and awaken the God principle in them, which would disintegrate the raja-tama particles from the air around him, which might have been brought along.

What is the correct method of doing Namaskar to Saints?

1. The portion of head, which should be placed at the feet :

We can imbibe maximum Chaitanya through the Brahmarandhra (the seventh chakra of the Kundalini system located in the crown of our head). Since it (Brahmarandhra) cannot be placed at a Saints's feet, the part of head beginning above the forehead is to be placed at the feet of Saints. Due to this, maximum Chaitanya emanating from Their feet can enter into the one doing Namaskar.

2.. The exact spot to place one's head on a Saint's feet:

The big toes of Saints emit maximum Chaitanya; hence we should place our head on the big toe, than on their foot. If we are in a position to touch both the toes, then place the head on the right big toe.

3. The position of hands when placing the head on a Saint's feet:

a.
Some interlock their hands behind their backs at the waist and do Namaskar. If we are in a position to touch both their toes, then we should place the hands one on each foot and the head should be placed on the big toe of the right foot. If we are in a position to touch one of Their toes, then place both the hands on it and keep the head on the big toe.

b.
Some do Namaskar by placing hands on the ground. This is also wrong because if the hands are placed on the ground then the Chaitanya emanating from the Saint's feet are absorbed by one and then returns to the earth through the hands of the one doing Namaskar. Thus the person does not benefit from it.

c.
Some cross their hands and place them on the feet of Saints, that is, their right hand on the right foot of the Saint and their left hand on the left foot of the Saint while doingNamaskar. This is a crude imitation of the manner in which Christians place their crossed hands on their chest. Instead, our right hand should be placed on the left foot of the Saint and our left hand on the right foot of the Saint. This is convenient also. However, if a Guru has started some procedure in a particular sect, then the hands are to be placed in that manner only.

d. The hands are to be positioned in such a way that the palms are placed on the feet..

How to do Namaskar to the wooden footwear (paduka) of Saints?

Namaskar to the wooden footwear (paduka) of Saints

'The left paduka symbolises Lord Shiva and the right symbolises Divine Energy. The left paduka is the unmanifest saviour energy and the right is the unmanifest destroyer energy
of the Supreme God. The saviour or destroyer energy of the Supreme God emanates from the 'pegs' of the paduka as per the need. When we do Namaskar by placing our head
on the 'pegs' of the paduka, some may experience distress due to the inability to tolerate
the manifest energy emitting from it. Hence, while doing Namaskar to the paduka, instead of the pegs, place the head on the foremost part i.e. the place where the Saints place
their toes.'

Should one do Namaskar to a dead body?

Q. If this be so, should we do Namaskar to the dead bodies in Kaliyuga only as a custom? If it is a custom, can we discontinue it?

A. One can maintain respect for the dead person by doing Namaskar and in addition set an ideal with regards to respecting elders. In Kaliyuga, from this one will benefit at an emotional level and not at a spiritual level. However, one should not discontinue this custom; instead one could learn how to get spiritual benefit from it. Due to the deterioration of the Sattva component in embodied souls, this practice has become a mere custom in Kaliyuga.

However, as per the saying, 'God exists where there is spiritual emotion', while doing Namaskar to a dead body if we have a spiritual emotion that we are doing Namaskar  to the God principle in it, then the God principle in the dead body awakens and we receive God's blessings. This happens because the God principle is immortal and has no limitations that a physical body has.

Q. It is said that one should not do Namaskar to a sleeping person. In Kaliyuga if one does Namaskar by touching the dead body, then are the chances of getting distress from negative energies not higher?

A. Yes it is; but while doing Namaskar it is important that the action be performed with correct spiritual emotion. Since Namaskar is done to the God principle in the dead body instead of activating raja, tama components, it activates the Godly principle in the dead body and bestows Sattva corresponding to the degree of spiritual emotion.'

'One hand' touch to the Temple Steps

Action: Touch the step with the fingers of the right hand and move the same hand over the head.

Science:
'The area around the temple is charged with frequencies of Deities which leads to an increase in the Sattva component. The presence of Divine consciousness in the area charges even the stairs in a temple. 'Climbing' steps is one of the activities, which increases the raja component in the body. Hence, the raja component is already activated in the body of an embodied soul so by touching the steps with the fingers of the right hand, the Sattva component and peace from the charged premise, get transmitted to the body through the right hand. In addition, from this action, the activated raja component in the body can be controlled through the medium of the surya nadi (Sun channel). This means that, for a moment, the activities of the Sun channel can be stopped. From this process, the embodied soul learns to enhance the Sattva component through raja dominant actions. Therefore, it is very essential to perform the appropriate sattvik actions at each corresponding level, hence the method of touching the steps with fingers of the right hand and then moving the fingers or palm over the head. Even the dust present on the steps is charged with Chaitanya and so we must respect it and derive spiritual benefit from it.. If the embodied soul harbours the spiritual emotion that 'the Chaitanya from the steps be transmitted all over my body from the dust on my hand', then it will give increasing benefit to the embodied soul. In addition if the ego of the embodied soul is less at that time then it gives even more benefit. When any action is performed devoid of ego or 'I'ness it is treated as a 'non-action' (akarma-karma) .'

Do's and Dont's while doing Namaskar

Q. Why should the eyes be closed while doing Namaskar?

'Joining hands while bowing the head amounts to saluting God or the divinity in the person in front. The eyes are closed while doing Namaskar to God or any respected person, to enable one to have the vision of God within us.'

Q. Why should the footwear be taken off while doing Namaskar?

While sitting, partaking meals, sleeping, wishing and doing Namaskar to Gurus and other elderly people, footwear should not be worn. - Gautamsmruti 9.

1. Footwear increases the raja-tama components in a person.

2. Paying obeisance (Namaskar) with high raja-tama components will not help in activating the Kundalini (centre in the spiritual energy system).

3. The ability to absorb the sattva component too is reduced, due to an increase in the raja-tama components, leading to little benefit from a Namaskar.

4. Doing Namaskar to a Deity, with footwear on, may also invite the wrath of the Deity.’

Q. Why is it not advisable to hold any object while doing Namaskar?

1. While doing Namaskar if an object is held in the hands, usually the fingers and their tips are in a curled position and not straight. As a result, the sattva component received is unable to enter the tips of the fingers.

2.. The sattva component emitted towards the seeker, strikes the object held and bounces back. Also, at times, instead of the person absorbing the sattva component, the object may absorb it.

3. If the object in the hand is raja or tama predominant, and if it is touched to the forehead or chest while doing Namaskar, then the raja-tama components from it mayenter the body of the one who is doing Namaskar.

Q. While doing Namaskar, why are men not supposed to cover their head, whereas women are advised to cover their head?

One should not do Namaskar with footwear on, covering the head or holding any objects. (But women should cover their head with their saris and only then do Namaskar) - Apastamb Dharmasutra 1.4.14.19

While doing Namaskar the Kundalini gets activated at the chakra which is touched by the folded hands. This leads to the absorption of the Sattva component in greater proportion in the body. Sometimes due to the activation of the Kundalini, Sattva component starts entering the body through the head. But at times the distressing energies try to take advantage of this and mix black energy with the Sattva component. The potential to activate the Kundalini is higher in men as compared to women. Hence they are hardly affected by this negative energy. Contrary to this, as women are more vulnerable, they get affected by distressing energies to a greater extent and thus they can experience distress. That is why, when doing Namaskar, women are advised to cover their head with the ends of their sari. This creates a barrier between the head and the distressing energies and prevents themfrom penetrating the body of the woman. However, to some extent this also blocks benevolent frequencies from entering the women. (Benevolent frequencies are subtler than negative frequencies; hence they enter a woman to some extent even though the sari covers her head.) However, the proper posture of Namaskar gives maximum Sattva component to an individual and hence women too get required benefits. This shows how God takes care of every devotee. Doing Namaskar without these restrictions is equally effective if the devotee does it with spiritual emotion.
